An Arty Farty Outing to The National Museum (pics heavy)
Baobao began going to the Art Class again when the school holidays began. The school organised an outing to the National Museum and we tagged along.
It was an arts exhibition whereby the teacher will bring them around and explain some simple things to them.
The weather. Gloomy day.
We first had breakfast at a coffee shop
And discovered this tim sum shop. Wow, so many variety!
Arrived at the community centre to wait for the bus. Meimei in her pretty get up.
Arrived at the musuem, appreciate the architecture. For me who hadn't been in Europe, this is as good as it gets. :P
Beautiful windows. Perfect photographing background.
Waiting as the teacher briefed them.
The name of the art Exhibition is Dreams and Reality. I might have a better appreciation for it if we had followed a guide..
There were many pictures. Gigantic one with gigantic frames. The teacher chose this for them to draw.
Here's Baobao's version. haha.. Just love the innocent child perspective about it. Ever so unpretentious.
And then there was some which are MORE unpretentious. So much so it's too abstract to see..
Took a pic of a picture taken in 1800's. I am in awe of it as a real image of that era. Not a painting nor picture. That handsome little boy had probably gone on the next life..
This painting caught my eyes as the shadows were beautifully depicted.
Charcoal painting. The wonder of this picture to me is that the whole picture is painted with just one colour - black. It's through the various shades of black that the details of the pictures were captured.
Do you know what picture is this?
Ahhhhh..Starry Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh
Starry Starry Night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the blues and can't forget...
I never quite had time to stand and gaze at the picture and fully appreciate its beauty. Which makes me think the song is much more beautiful than the painting for now. :)
But it was this picture from across "Starry Starry Night' that caught me eyes. The moonlit night looked so haunting. And reminded me of a night I spent with my friends by a Desaru beach. We sang and played the guitar by the sea and this picture quite accurately depict that ambience.
The inside of the dome.
So I got inspired and joined the kids at the exit for a drawing session and drew this.
Bedroom in Arles by Vincent Van Gogh. I like the childlike simplicity and the colours.
Quite fun! :)
